Fogo Island

Ilha Do Fogo (island of Fire) covers an area of approx 44 hectares and has a circumference of 3.5km. It is situated off the coast of mainland Mozambique and forms part of the Primeira archipelago.

The pristine island is uninhabitated and is the cliche of an ideal tropical paradise. With a white wrap around beach, surrounded by unspoilt coral reef and an abundance of sea life, Fogo Island is a rare hidden gem.

The island provides deep sea game fishing, non motorised water sports (kitesurfing and wind surfing), superlative fishing, spear fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving on one of the worlds remaining immaculate, easy accessable coral reefs that abounds with every species of tropical fish imaginable. (The area is renowned breeding ground for leatherback turtles).

The island is malaria free and has an indigenous forest. The warm Mozambique Channel ensures pleasant swimming and diving conditions all year round. The cooler, dry season is normally April to September with average 25 deg day temperature. The warm rainy season is from October to March and average day temperature is 32 deg.

The resort currently houses four chalets, combining both luxury and comfort with seclusion and natural beauty. Only ecological friendly materials (indigenous hardwoods, Kiaat & African mahogany) were used in constructing the current four fully furnished residential units and the restaurant

Yacht charter packages are combined with accommodation at Fogo Island Resort to create the ultimate holiday experience. Yacht Adventurer offers fishing trips, diving and snorkeling charters.
