Quirimbas (Mozambique)
The Quirimbas Archipelago is made up of some 30 islands, including Quirimba, Sencar and Ibo. This Archipelago is a pristine destination, and less frequented. The southern islands fall within the 1,500 square kilometre Quirimbas National Park and some feature dramatic underwater vertical drops of more than 400m, making this a prime destination for “wall” diving. The walls of the drops are home to coral-covered caves and an amazingly wide variety of tropical fish including the beautiful Moorish idol, the gigantic Napoleon wrasse and colourful powder-blue surgeon-fish. Pemba is the access point for the Quirimbas Archipelago. The Quirimba Archipelago offers visitors the quintessential tropical island experience, with beautiful white beaches and thousands of palm trees swaying in the breeze. A perfect vista of endless white sand and translucent sea mesmerizes those who visit, whilst the untouched marine environment allows for constant new discoveries of Mozambique, whether diving, snorkelling, fishing, or exploring unspoilt beaches.
